Discover what guides you in these new waters.
Major changes in your life can leave you feeling adrift at sea, away from the safety of the familiar harbor you knew before. Embarking on a new voyage in your life often holds excitement and promise alongside uncertainty and fear, meaning the seas may feel calm and navigable one day...but then rough and stormy the next.
The loss of trusted anchors can uproot your sense of mental, emotional, and relational well-being. Without the connection to your former context, you may discover new questions about who you are, what is most important to you, and what it means to live a fulfilling life.
Together, we can discover what guides you through these new waters. I can support you in letting go of what you have left behind while you embrace what lies ahead. Our conversations well help orient you and ground you as you seek to reimagine your sense of self and your relationships.
Here is a bit about some of the common life transitions that I work with:
On top of all these types of adjustment, major changes in your life may be accompanied by symptoms of anxiety, which can add distress to an already challenging point in time. Working with me in therapy can reduce these feelings, too. You can learn more here.
Whatever is it that has led you out of the harbor and into the open ocean, I look forward to the opportunity to work with you as you find deeper joy, meaning, excitement, and fulfillment in this new place in your life.

Here is a bit about some of the common life transitions that I work with:
- Divorce or the end of committed relationship. Leaving behind your most central relationship can send ripples of change through every corner of your life. Your relationships with friends and family may be affected. Your financial circumstances and living situation may be different. Even the things you used to do for enjoyment may feel significantly altered. At the same time, you may feel a newfound freedom that opens up new possibilities for your life. Counseling can help you make sense of everything you have been through and support you in rebuilding the life you truly want.
- Relocation. The boxes may be unpacked, but that doesn't mean you feel at home yet. Saying goodbye to your old city means losing most of what feels familiar to you. In this new place, you are learning to find your way around as well as to find your place within new relationships, new social pressures, and perhaps also new work or school. Therapy can assist you as you seek to put down roots here, guiding you towards the places within you and around you that are most life-giving.
- Stage of life changes. Moving into a new stage in your life can bring just as many changes as moving to a new place. Common points of transition in our development can include: entering adulthood, becoming married or moving in with someone, becoming a parent, "emptying the nest", and retiring. Each of these new chapters often bring significant shifts in our networks of relationships as well as to our sense of self-esteem. Counseling can enable you to redefine your identity and your relationships in ways that work for you now.
