My training includes:

-Mindful Self-Compassion with The Center for Mindful Self-Compassion
-Fundamentals of Supervision with the American Association for Marriage & Family Therapy ; I'm am AAMFT-Approved Supervisor-In-Training working toward the full designation
-Domestic Relations Mediation Training
-Gottman Method Couples Therapy Training (Levels I and II)
-Taos Institute Workshop on Social Construction and Dialogical Practices

I chose the field of Marriage and Family Therapy because it emphasizes our inherent interconnectedness. I have a particular passion for postmodern methods of counseling, which embody respect for clients' innate resiliency, resourcefulness, and sense of meaning.

Outside of my work with clients, I enjoy connecting with other therapists and making contributions to our larger field. I founded CanalScape Counseling Collective to create an intentional community with colleagues I respect in a shared location. I also started and co-moderate a networking group for Autism Clinicians in Central Indiana. I authored and presented a paper on my work with clients considering divorce at the Taos Institute's 25th Anniversary Conference in Cancun, which is now included as a chapter in the book Social Construction in Action.
Outside the therapy room, I aim to "walk the talk"--I participate in my own therapy regularly and continuously seek opportunities to grow in my relationship to myself and others. I treasure time with the people who are dear to me (including my spouse of almost two decades and our two kids), especially over good food or in the presence of nature. "Quality time" is my "love language" and I'm an Enneagram 3 who has (very slowly) learned to appreciate "being" as much as "doing". Some of my favorite activities include: traveling, walking or running with my dog, journaling, and listening to podcasts (mostly true crime with a sprinkling of self-help). I grew up in the Seattle area and have lived in California, Colorado, and Montana; I've called Indy my home since 2012.

I value and honor people in their uniqueness and welcome clients of all backgrounds; I appreciate opportunities to work with people across differences of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, neurological wiring and more.
