emotional balance: honor & navigate your feelings
Starts September 21st. Registration is now closed.
In the wake of a divorce, you may find yourself surprised or even unsettled at times by the depth and diversity of emotions you feel from day to day. Some of these emotions are welcome and easy to embrace; others are uncomfortable and tempting to avoid. At the same time, there is often a lot to do as you adjust to a myriad of changes in your life, which can make it hard to find the time and space to notice and respond to what's happening for you internally.
While emotions can be draining, distracting, and just plain messy they are also often very important indicators of what you most want and need. Accepting and attending to your feelings can be a transformational way to care for yourself and bring clarity to your thoughts and actions. Knowing what you feel can help you know who you are becoming and what you want to build as you cultivate this next chapter in your life.
That's why I'm inviting you to join me as you lean into noticing and navigating your feelings through our upcoming guided journaling group. You'll become a part of a small circle of fellow journalers who are seeking emotional awareness and balance after divorce, journeying together through our guided journaling group process as we take a deep dive into our emotions and how we respond to them.
Below you'll find an overview of the path we'll travel through group discussion and guided journaling.
Observing & Accepting: Balancing our emotions starts with noticing them and letting them speak to us. Our prompts for week 1 will help you become more aware of your feelings while you set aside self-judgment and shame about them.
Grief & Gratitude: Grief helps us to honor what we've lost; gratitude points us toward what we have. Our prompts for week 2 will invite you to make room for sadness regarding the unique losses you've experienced related to divorce as well as to celebrate the unique gifts you've received.
Anger & Empowerment: Anger is often a feeling that energizes us to take actions to protect ourselves and others while empowerment is a feeling that provides us with a sense of confidence and competency to take actions that open up new
possibilities. Our prompts for week 3 will help you explore your sense of agency as we access these complimentary emotions.
Worry & Hope: Worry and hope are both emotions about our future; each fills in the unknowns ahead of us with very different outcomes. Our prompts for week 4 will turn your attention toward your future, gently supporting your ability to face your fears as well as dream big dreams.
Compassion & Direction: Now that you have a deeper awareness of the variety of feelings you experience, you'll have the opportunity to become more intentional about how you respond to those feelings. Our prompts for week 5 will help you expand your ability to give compassion for yourself as well as enhance your understanding the directions your feelings point you toward.
Post-Group Reflection: Now that you've journaled and journeyed within our guided group, you get to take everything you experienced and explored home with you. Our final set of prompts, to be completed after our group ends, will support you as you reflect on what you've learned and where you want to go from here.
