individual therapy for neurotypicals in neurodiverse relationships
Being the neurotypical partner, spouse, or family member of someone on the autism spectrum can feel profoundly isolating. The challenges in your relationship with your spouse or loved one can feel lonely enough, but you may feel further isolated when you share your problems with friends or family who don't understand the unique aspects of your relationship.
As someone with both professional and personal experiences related to neurodiverse relationships, I can offer you whole-hearted understanding, warm validation, and gentle assurance that you're not alone. I'll help you understand your partner or loved one's patterns of behavior, strengths, and limitations--but I'll share my knowledge gently, without losing sight of the complex emotions that may arise for you as you learn. I'll create a safe space for you to name and express all of your thoughts and feelings about your relationship honestly, especially those you may feel most embarrassed to admit. Together, we'll make sure that you stay in touch with your own wants and needs within this relationship and work on strategies to help you effectively communicate with your partner or loved one.
