- translating between different communication and processing styles
- learning and practicing new communication tools and strategies
- describing and understanding inner experiences of neurological differences ("my brain works like this...")
- defining "connection" for each partner and increasing experiences of connection
- repairing past hurt and disconnection, often rooted in a lack of awareness or knowledge regarding neurodiversity in the relationship
- building an identity as a couple and creating relationship expectations that work for both partners
- co-creating unique solutions that meet both partners' needs (practically, emotionally, mentally)
- working as a team to navigate challenges the autistic partner may face in a world built for neurotypicals

- effects of past childhood experiences on present relationship difficulties (including trauma, emotional neglect/abuse, family dysfunction)
